Brotherhood, America’s Oldest Winery was established in 1839 and is located in the charming village of Washingtonville, in Orange County. Having survived Prohibition by producing sacramental wines, we are recognized by both the National and NY State Register of Historic Places as America’s Oldest Winery. Brotherhood’s unique experience provides visitors with a glimpse of a bygone era and taste of a promising future. Visitors find themselves enveloped by our charm, our history and our accommodating staff. Our campus is a little “village” comprised of several 19th century buildings including our Tasting Room, Grand Monarque Hall, Vinum Café, Chapel and Gift Shop.
Relax in our courtyard or patio where we have weekend activities of every variety. Visitors have the option of taking one of our historical tours through the largest hand-excavated underground cellars in the country. Your visit is not complete without participating in a wine tasting of Brotherhood’s award winning wines.
Brotherhood is one of the Hudson Valley’s largest wine producers and we benefit from sourcing our grapes from the best grape growing regions in NY state. Our Riesling is sourced from the Finger Lakes, our Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from Long Island and our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Finger Lakes and Hudson Valley. We make affordable varietals and fun specialty blends as well as Sherry, Port and method-champenoise sparkling wine. Join us for one of our festivals or host your own corporate party or wedding in our newly renovated Grand Monarque Hall.
